EASY WITH ENGLISH

     [ GRAMMAR ]

- Simple Present Tense -

1. Simple present tense is used to declare an act or activity which it happen now and not in the past.

( I/you/they/we ) = V1
( She/he/it/Ali ) = V1( s/es/ies )

 Extra rules : add "es"

 - when the verb end with "ch"
   example : catch = catches
 - when the verbs end with "sh"
   example : wash = washes
 - when the verbs end with "ss"
   example : kiss = kisses
 - when the verbs end with "x"
   example : box = boxes
 - when the verbs end with "o"
   example : go = goes

Extra rules : add "ies"

 - when the verbs end with consonant "y"
   example : fly = flies
                  cry = cries

Extra rules : add "s"

 - when the verbs end with consonant
   example : work = works
                  keep = keeps  
 

Example :

* I eat banana
* You take my phone
* They study together
* She cries loudly
* He works hard everyday
* Adam smiles to his mother

- Past Continuous Tense -

(1) Past Continuous Tense is used to express an act  
     or event is happening in the past.

(2) Past Continuous Tense is used to express an act  
     or event which began when another incident  
     occurred in the past.

( I/she/he/It/Ali ) = was
( They/we/you ) = were


~ Positive ~

( subject ) + was + V1 + ing
( subject ) + were + V1 + ing



Example :

* Bunga was baking cake yesterday
* He was repairing his car two days ago
* They were swimming at the pool last night
* Andy and Annie were riding a bicycle last week
 
* Andhika was crying when her father anger
* The cat was sleeping when Lily left
* I was running when the dog chased me
* We were studying when the library calmed


~ Negative ~ 

( I/she/he/it/Ali ) + was + not + V1 + ing
( they/we/you ) + were + not + V1 + ing

Example :

* We were not dancing in the class
* Maria was not sitting on the table
* He was not laughing when heared the rumour
* The dog was not eating when Sarah left


~ Interrogative ~

was + ( I/she/he/it/Ali ) + V1 + ing + ?
were + ( they/we/you ) + V1 + ing + ?

Example :


* Was I washing when you came ?
* Were you sleeping when your mother called ?
* Were they going out when their parent slept ?
* Was she watching movie when felt alone ?
